What is the EuroJackpot Lottery?

In 2011, non-participant countries in the Pan-European EuroMillions created the EuroJackpot online lottery game, with the first draw taking place on Friday, March 23rd 2012.

These non-participant countries were Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

The idea for creating the EuroJackpot lottery was to share in the excitement of colossal prize draws, and this is what this amazing game offers.

EuroJackpot has a starting maximum prize of €10 million (approximately US $12 million), which can rise to a tantalisingly hefty €120 million.

Historical EuroJackpot Changes

Initially, the EuroJackpot lottery could not roll over more than 12 times. However, the organisers found this to be too restrictive, and in February 2013, it was changed.

The 2013 change stipulated that the maximum prize can roll over until it reaches the €90 million cap. When the cap is reached without a winner, the excess funds raised through sales will be rolled down to the second prize tier.

This second prize tier, can also roll over until it is won or reaches €90 million. The top prize will remain at €90 million until it has been won.

Three (3) years after its first draw, on May 15th 2015, the EuroJackpot recorded its highest win. A lucky winner from the Czech Republic won €90 million, and it was the first time the cap was reached. Since then, the cap has been reached on numerous occasions, creating more instant multi-millionaires.

The EuroJackpot continuously rolled over from May 18th 2012 to August 10th 2012. By the 12th draw, the top prize had still not been won, and the entire €27,545,858 (approximately US $33 million) prize rolled down to the second prize tier.

One (1) second-tier prize winner walked away with this rolled down top prize without matching the seven (7) numbers required to win. The lucky winner hailed from Germany and now holds the record for one of the biggest lottery winners in German history.

Changes were made to this renowned lottery in 2022. They increased the number of bonus balls from ten to twelve, raised the cap to €120 million, and added an additional draw day. Increasing the number of chances for players to win!
